Inspirational moments for the clubThe 1970's Fair's Cup final has been etched with golden letters in the history of the club. It was a dramatic win after a draught of seventeen long years. The team had overcome a tough challenge in the semi-finals when they defeated an Ajax team boasting of Johan Cruyff and Rudi Krol in the line up. They went on to lose the first leg of the final to Anderlecht in Belgium but came back strongly in the final leg to win 4-3 on aggregate to gift their fans a memorable victory on home turf.
The Wenger eraThe Frenchman Arsene Wenger has been associated with the club for the most number of years among all the managers who have shouldered the responsibility and he has done it in style. He brought about a revolution in the team since taking up in 1996 by winning a number of major titles. But his contributions were not at all restricted to the field. He devised a rigorous dietary plan and schedule for the players that gave rise to starts like David Seaman, Patrick Vieira, Marc Overmars, Dennis Bergkamp, Ian Wright and Thierry Henry. Henry went on to become the top scorer of the club.
