Volunteering is a great experience but that does not mean that you cannot overextend yourself to the point of burnout. When you volunteering in India with iSpiice it means that you will be devoting your efforts to improve the lifestyle of a community and that takes a lot. You need to be certain that you are going to pull through with it.

Here are all the things that should help you assess whether you should go on with the program.

Don't Offer If You Know You Might Not Have Time

A lot of volunteers sign up but are a no show due to time constraints. This creates a lot of problems for the rest of the participants and the host because they have to find someone to fill your spot in a small time period and the other participants may have their schedules disrupted because of it all as well.

Don't Spread Yourself Too Thin

It is okay to want to help and put your energy in something you are truly passionate about. However if you just completed a project or got back from a trip similar to the one you are going to sign up with iSpiice you might want to think twice. Volunteer overload will leave you feeling low and that won't help the people you are trying to work with and help. The best tactic is to decline and then add that you are open to programs in the future. Unwind and then volunteer again after a while.

Challenge is Good, Just Don't Challenge Your Temperament

You may have had successful volunteering in India endeavors before but if something for instance teaching is not your thing then don't be over confident about it and say that you will overcome the obstacle of it and tackle the job during your volunteering time.

It is a lot more helpful if you give a few hours to doing something that you are excellent at than something that you are probably going to be struggling with.

There are Certain Times in Your Life Where Volunteer work in India Just May Not Be Your Thing

There are temporary periods in your life where a lot of activities similar to and including volunteer work should not be a priority. If you are going through exam season, childbirth, illness etc, it's your right to put all your focus  to yourself and your family. It'll take a bit of time but you will recover and can volunteer then. If you are going through a negative experience like a divorce do not rely on a volunteering to help you hang on to stability, you may not be able to do the job earnestly if you are disappointed in not getting what you hoped for.
