Hands-on Review of HEOS 1 and Its Go Pack

I love listening to music, and have been noticing the transformation in the speaker industry for quite some time. From wired to wireless, from big to small to portable, speakers have evolved. Design

HEOS 1 has it all as far as its design is concerned. It is very compact and portable, making it easy to carry around. The company has utilized space of the device by providing speaker outlets at the front and on the sides, to get maximum sound coverage. The design is simple and smart at the same time.

Features

It is really surprising to see such a small audio speaker packed with so many amazing features. To start with, first let's talk about the quality of its sound. Features such as custom EQ tailoring and dual channel audio amplification deliver smooth, pleasant sound with natural tonal balance. And it also delivers a full range of sound thanks to its Digital Signal Processing (DSP) system. 

The speaker is also claimed to be suitable for humid climates, so I put it to a test to confirm these affirmations. The device has passed with flying colors, and proceeded to produce excellent sound in humid weather, as well as my bathroom filled with steam. Its sealed enclosure provides protection from the moisture in the air.

Functionality

This mini wireless speaker works with music streaming with different services including Rhapsody, Pandora, and Spotify. The device has performed amazingly well with all of these services and more. Music can also be played, simply by installing HEOS app on smart devices, which is available for iOS, Android and Kindle platforms. The speaker consumes only a little space, but produces a big sound. Overall, it can be said that the device has performed well on all the criteria.

Connectivity ports are another very important feature that decide the usability of a product. This speaker has all that are required to connect it to the local network and smart devices. So, as far as connectivity is concerned, the options are perfectly satisfactory.

HEOS 1 Go Pack

The HEOS 1 Go Pack acts as an added advantage for the speaker. The pack is optional, but its contents can increase the speaker's performance. Tests have been done for each item that the company is offering in this go-pack. So, here is my review regarding these products. 

1. Lithium-ion Battery – The Company claims that the speaker can work for six hours once fully charged. True to its claims, this battery can actually increase the life of music playback.
2. Bluetooth Adapter – The Company has included this Bluetooth adapter in the pack to increase the functionality of the device. Without this adapter, the speaker can only stream music using Wi-Fi. However, if you do not have access to Wi-Fi, this adapter can convert the speaker to Bluetooth. While testing, the device performed flawlessly in either mode, so it can be considered as an added advantage.
3. Silicon Splash Guard – This guard makes the speaker safe while playing music pool-side or near sinks and tubs. It doesn't mean that the speaker will become water-proof, but it does act as a layer of protection from minor splashes. 

In review, the device has performed quite well on all levels of performance, functionality, and connectivity.
