This is what happened when I was looking for great days out in Yorkshire, "Go to Lightwater Valley!" they said, "Ok!" I said, so I took some friends, and when we got there we had the time of our lives. There was the longest rollercoaster in Europe, the Ultimate, it was over 7 minutes long, a real adrenaline rush – we all wanted to go on again, and again. And I'm sure you will too; as amusement parks go, Lightwater Valley is top of the pile of UK theme parks and of Yorkshire attractions. Watch out for the grand, new season re-open coming up on Wednesday 23rd March 2016. If you book advanced tickets online you even get a 30% discount!
Next time we go to Lightwater Valley, my friends and I are going to give the Jurassic adventure golf a go. I've always loved a bit of for-fun golf and what could be more crazy (and adventurous) than wielding a club and small white ball around fierce raptors like the mighty T-Rex, Stegosaurus and Pterodactyls.
They say that of all the Yorkshire attractions Lightwater Valley's Jurassic Adventure Golf is one of the most fun, you have to watch out as you navigate your way through 18 holes of dense north Yorkshire undergrowth inhabited by terrifying predators. Dinosaurs and man, two species separated by 65 million years, suddenly roaming the same course. I've not held a putter for a long time, but I'm looking forward to months of gloating as I intend to be the one to sink the winning putt on the 18th green.
And what about the traditional 19th Hole? I know that the best place to head for is The Granary CafĂ© where we can tuck in to freshly prepared traditional food from the delicious menu. Nothing better than warming homemade soups, baked potatoes or fish and chips, steak and ale pie or a fresh crunchy salad over which to discuss the winning putt (mine!) and the most rubbish scores (the others!) Of course this can all be washed down with a lovely cup of tea, or if you are pushing the boat out (and of course if you are over 18) there is a selection of draught beers or wines by the glass. To make the whole food experience even better, as much of the ingredients on the menu where possible are sourced from specialist local suppliers. Good sport, and good food – what could be better for one of our great days out in Yorkshire? Visit www.lighwatervalley.co.uk to book your tickets today.
