Story: -
Diwakar (Kamal Haasan) is a secret agent in the narcotics department. He and his colleague plan a secret agreement and get your hands on some expensive drugs that are held by the formidable Vital Rao (Prakash Raj).No choice, an upset Vital Rao kidnaps the son of Diwakar and asked him to return his parcel. Rest of the story is how his son Diwakar releases from the evil clutches of Vital Rao and where does Mallika (Trisha) feature in all this set up.
Plus Points: -
Kamal Haasan is the greatest asset of this action thriller. From his body language to his performance, everything is first class. How Kamal enters his character and highlights the serious emotions throughout the film is simply outstanding. Trisha is capable in his role and all its confrontation scenes with Kamal are very good.Madhu Shalini super cute in her tiny role and makes full justice. First half of the film is quite elegant and has a certain edge of the safety action episodes. The various twists that come during this period were also well executed. Prakash Raj is once more a great job in his negative role and entertains the audience with his antics. All the action sequences were choreographed very elegantly. The intense struggle between Trisha and Kamal Haasan looks impressive and was shot beautifully. The background score is an asset because it raises the proceedings to another level.
Negative points: -
Although there are not many drilling points, procedures their own time to conclude during the second half. After a first half racy narrative dips slightly and makes some scenes go on and on.climax of the film is as extensive as some unnecessary scenes spoil the mood of the film. Second half does not have the twists and story of the film is very simple and has nothing very interesting to offer.
Technical aspects:-
camera work is first class and showcases the entire procedure in a beautiful light. The whole pub featured in the film is first class and improves process big time. As said before, the background score is the score brownie point brightest and Gibhran in this department.Dialogues are clean and editing could have been a little more crisp in the second half. Scenario is quite racy and lack of songs also help things further. Coming to the Director Rajesh Selva, he did a good job and told the French remake of a decent tone and with great interesting moments.
Verdict:-
Overall, Cheekati Rajyam is a sleek action thriller with interesting moments go his way. Racy first half, the performance of Kamal Haasan and some stylized action episodes are huge assets. On the other hand, a predictable story and a bit dragged out second half to spoil things a bit. All those who love action thrillers eventually love the big time and for the rest, he ended up as a simple decent shows this weekend.
