Valentine's Day also known as Feast of Saint Valentine or Saint Valentine's Day is celebrated on 14th February each year. It is known in almost every country but none of them have declared any kind of official holiday for this day. St. Valentine's Day began as a ceremonial celebration for many early Christian saints named Valentinus. Several suffering stories were also invented to define the reason to celebrate February 14.

A popular hagiographical account of Saint Valentine of Rome states that he was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians, who were persecuted under the Roman Empire. According to legend, during his imprisonment, he healed the daughter of his jailer, Asterius.

An exaggeration to this story states that before his implementation he wrote her a letter signed "Your Valentine" as a farewell. Saint Valentine's Day is an official feast day in the Lutheran Church, as well as in the Anglican Communion. Some part of the Eastern Orthodox Church, but not all celebrates Saint Valentine's Day, albeit on July 30 and July 6, this was the former date in honor of the Roman presbyter Saint Valentine, and the latter date in honor of Hieromartyr Valentine, the Bishop of Interamna (modern Terni).

In Greek Orthodox Church and many other Churches of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, no Saint Valentine exists, nor respected. The day was first linked with passionate love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the Middle Ages, when the practice of courtly love flourished.

This custom grew in 18th-century in England, it evolved into an occasion in which people expressed their love to each other by offering confectionery, presenting flowers, and sending greeting cards (known as "valentines").Saint Valentine's Keys are given to lovers in Europe, "as a romantic symbol and an invitation to unlock the giver's heart", and also given to children, so that they can ward off epilepsy (called Saint Valentine's Malady).Valentine's Day signs that are used today include theheart-shaped sketch, doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid. After the 19th century, handwritten valentines have given way to readymade greeting cards.

In this week of love we also celebrate Rose Day, Propose Day, Chocolate Day, Teddy Day, Promise Day, Hug Day and Kiss Day before Valentine's Day. This week comes with a great excitement in India and lovers enjoy this time a lot.
