Self awareness:
Are you honest to yourself? Apart from knowing your emotions and handling them, the most vital part of self awareness is being honest to yourself. You need to know about where you excel and what aspects you struggle with? You have to accept these things about yourself. Learn about your strengths, weaknesses and analyze them to work efficiently. Distinguish which emotion you are experiencing and understand why you feel that emotion. Always harness these emotions to use them productively.
Do not suppress your emotions or overtly express them, finding a balance is a tough job but, it comes with practise.
Empathy:
Being curious about people is being interested in them. When you meet people do you have a lot of questions to ask about them? Well, that shows you are empathetic, you listen to people and you are sensitive towards their feelings and interests. Also, conflict arises at any workplace, you should not avoid it. The roadmap to successful teamwork is being cooperative and considerate. Listening is the first step to being considerate about people, so be an active listener.
Team Spirit:
When you work in a team there are people from different backgrounds. Learn to be sensitive towards everyone and understand their challenges. Build a 'We centric' approach instead of 'I centric' approach. Success is that of a team and not an individual, because you cannot perform in isolation.
Think in long term:
People who possess high EQ think about any opportunity or challenge on a long term basis. They strike a balance between the short term and long term benefits. They have a vision and their decisions befit their vision.
Self motivated & self starter:
If you are self motivated individual you will start work on your own. You will find your own answers to challenges and won't need any extrinsic motivation. You will initiate new things & will be motivated intrinsically to consistently keep working towards your goal.
EQ is the weapon that you should be armed with while you set your sight soaring high for your professional and personal life. Each person is gifted with this weapon you just need to explore it.
