Azeem Mohammed is a 38 year-old enterprise-software sales manager for IBM Middle East who is based in Dubai and travels to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Sharjah, and within Dubai on business. He is originally from Alexandria, Egypt and has lived and worked in the UAE for almost 10 years now. He was earlier with Qualcomm UAE from 2005 to 2010, after which he joined IBM. He has been promoted twice already to a senior position within IBM, first in 2012 and the second time in 2014. He manages a team of 14 people who report to him directly. He takes part in the recruiting process of employees that will join his immediate team. He trains them and sets goals for them, which invariably they achieve, not because the goals are set low, but because they make it happen. He believes in continuous motivation to achieve and surpass goals.
He drives a 2012 Land Rover LR2. He is married to Arwa Mohammed, 32 years and working in NextPR, a PR and marketing communications firm, as MarCom Manager. She drives a 2010 Honda CR-V. They have 2 children Salma, 12, and Sulaiman, 9, both in Dubai Carmel School, Opp. Sahara Centre. Azeem's mother, Raziya, stays at home to receive her grand children when they are back from school. Arwa is invariably late, given the extreme pressure and work deadlines that her job demands. Azeem recently contacted me saying that he had reached a plateau at work. These are the words he used,
"I have reached the limits of my development with my current company. And my skills are not even fully utilized. I am easily adaptable and have lots of relevant experience. However, it is my ideas that I want to unleash. But my boss is not really that receptive and I feel I'm limiting my potential. I understand his predicament too, but I feel I am stifled and suffocated at times. I want to fly, but feel my wings have been clipped. With 10 years in the business, I know what it takes to really let it go. But...
Hence, I seek a new opportunity with a new company that will realize and recognize my passion and zeal. I want a firm that will not tie me down, but instead give me wings to fly and thus create history. Hence, please help me write a new CV and build a new profile to target a role keeping this in mind."
OMG! Now what was that?
Azeem is not alone. I receive many requests like these, from people who feel limited in their current organizations and now want to explore new frontiers. I've written CV's for various profiles, across domains and sectors to help people apply to new positions, better firms and… immense satisfaction.
