Delhi NCR in festive mood

Like many other big cities, in NCR too, disco nights are replaced by Garba and Dandiya nights for a complete week. Almost every housing society arranges the event within the premises where people from the society and even outsiders can gather and enjoy this traditional dance. Dandiya and Garba are folk dances form from Gujarat which is a devotional form of fight dance. However, these city Dandiya nights are not very different from Disco nights, if you notice closely.

Beating the discotheques

People have to pay fee to get entry into the venue we call discotheque. It is place decorated with colourful lights, has a dance floor with blinking lights and people prefer enjoying their evenings here. They release their stress dancing on the beat of loud music which a disc jockey, popularly known as DJ, plays for them. Venue for Dandiya and Garba nights looks almost similar to the discotheque these days. You will find lights of all kind, impressive decoration, even dance floor and people dancing on loud music there. The evening may start with traditional and devotional songs but as the night grows with the enthusiasm of dancers, the songs also shift to the popular Bollywood numbers.

Women enjoying a lot

Women find it a perfect opportunity to show off their moves and of course their expensive attire just as they do in disco. From backless dresses to sequin work sarees, you will find women of all age dressed up in their best. Some even do not mind attending dance classes to perform their best Dandiya dance and make others go green with envy.  Generally when Dandiya and Garba night is organised by a housing society, you do not have to pay any entry fee. The event is organised with the help of charity collection and society money. However in some cases you have to pay entry fee as well.

Celebrations all over

Many independent organizers are also organizing Dandiya nights in NCR. You have to pay entry fee to attend these events. These organisers arrange DJs and popular singers to entertain the guests. To know more about these events you can go through the Indian Garba festival news segments of news portals. The famous entertainment venue, 'Kingdom Of Dreams' in Gurgaon is organizing the event as "Bollywood Dandia Raas" this year. Bollywood playback singers like Pinky Maidasaini and Rakesh Maini will be there singing for you.

In India where moral policing refrains youth spending their nights at disc dancing, with these two tiny sticks in your hands you can scare these people off. NCR is dancing all night with pair of dandiya in its hands and moral police is watching the show.
