The town experiences hot and dry weather throughout the year. It serves as a service and marketing centre for the vicinity. The legislative powers regulate and maintain the law and order situation in the town.

On every full moon, each year, thousands of pilgrims pay visit to the greatest Saivite shrines. The spiritual savant Ramana Maharishi shares his stories with the Paatala Linga shrine. The temple has seven pakrams and nine towers.

The Activities in the Town

The town has good transportation, administration, and utility services; however, the town lacks proper underground drainage and sewage system. There are open drains and septic tanks that add to the inconvenience of the public.

Most of the people in the town are engaged in tertiary activities. The town has government medical and engineering colleges as well as high and secondary schools.

However, despite the societal backdrops that the description presents, there are villagers in the area who look up to volunteers in India for support. There is a group of 28 children in a house located near Arunchala, the holy mountain, which requires volunteers to instigate in them the sense of self -reliance, provide them education, and proper healthcare facilities.
