The Champ Who Made Delhi's Odd-Even Rule A Hit
"Meet this Delhi-lad, who built a website to solve the commuting problem after the odd even rule in Delhi, when everyone else, including the users of the website, were cribbing about the rule" The Odd even policy in Delhi was an attempt by the government to reduce pollution. Ever since its implementation, there have been various debates on the working of the same. 13-year-old Akshat Mittal from Delhi, decided to look beyond all of this. Instead, taking a step ahead, he built a portal that would exclusively cater to the needs of the commuters after the odd-even rule. From a perspective of a teenager, Akshat saw the world to be a very simple place. He thought that there is a problem and if he can, he should do something about it. Hence, he saw things beyond politics. And that's exactly how he wants this generation to respond to the present problems. "I want to become a business tycoon when I grow up. And I would look for a team where people only talk about solutions rather than cribbing about problems," he says. This mini-miracle finished developing this website in a span of one week. The website is up and running following his efforts and has recorded over 50,000 members in its list. Adding to his laurels, he completed the coding of the website all by himself applying his lessons from school. "My father and my brother motivated me and with whatever I was taught in school, I tried to build the website," he recalls. "The city needs a pollution check and thus this is the only solution, but it comes with a problem of hindrance in commuting. Thus, the city needed a platform to solve the problem," he says. The website has a simple design where users fill in the route they want to take with some personal information to complete the authentication process. The commuters, who have also registered on the website, will then be displayed on the screen. What next? Pick the most suitable one and take a happy ride. So, next time you want to carpool, do not forget to click on www. odd-even.com Akshat is now working on increasing the security for the website to ensure members a safer commute. He is also hoping that he gets a positive response from the government and then the website could be taken up under the Ministry of India, where he can get more support to launch the website on a larger scale.
