Story: -
Akhil (Akhil Akkineni) is a happy go lucky man who falls in love with Divya (Sayesha Saigal). He continues to pursue and when the couple begins to near the other, Divya is suddenly kidnapped by African nationals who are also looking for a scientist called Jua ball. What is Akhil doing now? How Divya connected to these dreaded criminals? Jua What is this all about? For answers to these questions, you need to watch the movie on the big screen.
Plus Points: -
One of the greatest strengths of the film is Akhil himself. The young hero made a remarkable entrance and is surely in bringing the legacy Akkineni before. Akhil is exceptional with its dances and made his action sequences as well. wise words, he needs to get better but the delivery of the dialogue and body language are fine.Sayesha Saigal looks pretty and is definitely a find for Tollywood. It has an incredible presence of screen and is fast becoming a top star in the future. Being a trained dancer, she impresses great moment in all the songs. Credit must also go to the way the songs were richly shot and choreographed.the introduction of Akhil fight and the first song were executed very creative. First half of the film is racy and moves at a brisk pace. Concept of the film is decent and the first fifteen minutes are impressive.
Negative points: -
One of the biggest drawbacks is the direction of VV Vinayak. One can easily say that Akhil is its weakest film to date. The way he told the film and performed a few key scenes in the second half is pretty bad. Second half loses steam and the entire episode of Africa and the climax seems jaded and irrelevant.Graphics used are below par and spoil the mood of the film completely. The struggle of black leopard, in episode of the water and the height plane fight was hampered by poor VFX work. After the establishment of the film as well until the point of the interval, Vinayak brings in some silly comic scenes and away the seriousness in the plot.
Technical aspects:-
The Anup Rubens is the best music in the music department. background score by Mani Sharma is quite impressive and so were the dialogues. the camera work is decent in the songs, but is below par during the second half. Even if the art department tried hard to bring Africa together with their effect, some work of poor quality by the graphics team worse.Coming to the director VV Vinayak, he did a poor job and could not execute what was on the paper. After a time, he rushes through the film and ends in a hurry. In addition, the ordinary heroism that is presented in all his films is missing great moment in Akhil.
Verdict:-
Overall, Akhil is a decent launching pad for the Akkineni graft. It is exceptional with its dances and gives performance throughout his first film. interesting premise and some good songs are essential assets. But equally narrative below, second half of day and the best graphics spoil the mood and makes this film just an average case. Just look for the impressive show of Akhil Akkineni.
