This is not a question that I ask everyone. Is it more like "what does this mean to you."People that stay in communities for long periods of time do this for a reason. Most people have particular reasons why they live where they live?

For some people it is all about family. Their brothers and sisters live in the city and this allows them to hang out. For them, their parents and their spouses parents live close by. That is why they call it establishing roots. This is great for some and not so great for others. There are some that as soon as they are old enough to leave they leave. Some don't like the small town and some don't like the big city. I have not spoken with anyone who does not like the mix. The mix is a small town close to a big city or  a big city that is close to some rural areas.

Other people live where they live for the community. Some communities have everything that a person is looking for. It has a decent number of restaurants. It has good parks and a fishing lake. The schools are good. The people are very friendly. Heck, I have a lot of friends here. For a few, the fishing lake is all they need.

There are others that just like where they work and want to live close to work. Is this you? I have always liked living close to work especially in snow country and high traffic areas. There is nothing special or fun about 3 hour round trip commutes every day. If you enjoy where you work, normally the people you work with live in the same community.

There are also people that will not ever leave their church. The church community plays a big role in the lives of the congregation. It is a community that you spend a lot of time worshipping with and fellowshipping with. I have known people that do not take promotions because they do not want to part from the church community. If you are in fellowship groups and volunteer at the church, you are connected. For some, this connection will never be broken.

Others enjoy what their communities do for others. Community spirit allows us to help all kinds of different charities. It could be cancer research or a cure for Alzheimer's. We are on it. One of our goals is always to contribute to a cure.

There are many too choose from. You can be a combination of a few of these. Do you love your community or do you want to leave.
