Have you ever experienced an excruciating pain in your leg while sitting, coughing or sneezing? This pain can be of Sciatica. Now you might be thinking that what in the world it means? Well, it is a symptom, which consists of leg pain that might feel like a bad leg cramp, or it can be severe or shooting pain that makes almost every activity of yours nearly impossible.

Let us now try to understand that why do we feel such a torturous pain. So for the people who are not aware with the term Sciatica, it is the name given to any pain which is caused from the irritation of the sciatic nerve. Any movement that disturbs this nerve can cause pain that ranges from as mild as pinch of baby to as severe as the sting of a hornet. Usually, the pain generates because of a suffocated nerve in lumbar. Often, the term is mixed up with general back pain. However, it is not just limited to the back.

So, here are some exercises to help you in getting some relief from the pain:

  • Piriformis Stretch :-> In this Sciatica exercise you have to lay on your back and place both the feet flat on the floor while keeping your knees bent. Now put your right ankle over your left knee and try to pull the left thigh in the direction of your chest. Remember to keep the top foot flexed to protect your knee. Once it is done try to do it with other leg and try to complete 30 repetitions with both legs.
  • Seated Hip Stretch :-> In this exercise, first keep your both legs flats and straight on floor and be in sitting posture. Then cross your right leg over your straight left leg. Now here comes the exciting part, try to hug your right knee with your left arm. While doing this make sure that your back is kept straight. Try to hold this stretch for 50 to 80 seconds and then repeat this with other side of your body. This Sciatica exercise is really helpful in getting relief from the intense pain.
  • Pigeon Pose :-> This is a very soothing exercise for relieving you from the pain of Sciatica. What you have to is, be in dog pose facing downwards. Then bring your right knee forward and try to turn in out in such a way that your right leg is in bent position and left leg remains straight. Now slowly and steadily try lowering both of your legs. Now try to hold this position for 20 to 30 seconds and then switch to other side.

Try doing these exercises for some time and you shall feel that how the pain is getting milder day by day.
