Some Specific Procedural Details

  1. 1.     Anesthesia

During the surgical procedure the medications are administered for the patient's comfort, though the doctor will recommend what is best for you.

  1. 2.     Incision

The incisions have specific areas to be made in, with the target of minimizing the visible scarring. Only after discussing on the incision types for the desired outcome, the process would be preceded. Incisions may vary based on the degree of enlargement, breast implant, patient, surgeon preference and for the particular anatomy.

  1. 3.     Inserting And  Placing The Breast Implant

After the incision is made, the breast implant can be inserted in either of the options:

  • Under the pectoral muscle
  • Over the pectoral muscle, directly behind the breast tissue

  1. 4.     Closing The Incisions

Either the incisions are closed with the layered sutures in the breast tissue, with sutures or surgical tape, skin adhesive to bring a better finishing line in the skin. With the time passing by, the incisions will heal and gradually fade, leaving just enhanced breasts seem like natural.

Preparing For The Surgery

You will be "prepped" accordingly, as you arrive the site of the surgery and most likely your surgeon will mark the spots of incision, once you change into the hospital gown.

Followed to that, you will be scrubbed with an antibacterial soap to reduce the change of infecting quite significantly. After completion of which the surgical team will check on your heart rate, blood pressure, and other vital signs.

The Surgery

After the pocket under the pectoral muscle or behind the breast tissue is created, the gel implant sack is inserted. And if you opted for a silicone filled implant, then the pre-filled implants will be placed inside the pocket created, while for saline breast implant, the shell is filled after being placed in the pocket.

There same theory works for expandable saline breast implants to tissue expander, but are permanent in nature. The saline is kept adding every week until you get the satisfactory result through the filler port, which is left near the place where the incision was made.

After that the saline implants seals itself shut, once the filler port is removed, though more saline can be added up to six months post surgery.   Post that your surgeon will check the symmetry of both the implants, by making you sit in an upright position and measure whether they are in exact places and symmetrical. If everything looks good, then the incision is sutured and a tissue will be placed to protect the wound, resting the implants securely in place and for the swelling to reduce.
