How to Make Feather Duster Using Ostrich Feathers

The most commonly used feathers that are used for making the feather dusters, are that of the ostrich and the turkey. The ostrich feathers are pretty long and can be used to make the duster with ease. Not only this, you can use the feathers either in their natural form or you can dye them into attractive colors, to make a color bomb of your house cleaning equipment.

Things you will need:

• Bamboo Sticks
• Hot Glue Gun
• Yarn
• Feathers
• Foam

Step 1:

Take 3-4 bamboo sticks and apply glue in between them. Let them lay still for few minutes for the adhesive to work effectively.

Step 2:

Take a long piece of yarn and tie a knot on one corner of the bamboo stick. Secure it with the glue.

Step 3:

Wound the entire piece of yarn from the secured corner to the other corner and tie a knot at the end. You can use a bright colored yarn in order to make your feather duster look attractive.

Step 4:

Take 2-3 inches of piece of foam and wrap it on one end of the bamboo stick using the glue and then secure it with the piece of yarn.

Step 5:

Now begins the exciting part! Take the ostrich feather of one color and stick them on the piece of foam. Stick the feathers in such a way that their lower most part is stuck on the foam. Tie a yarn on the lower part for extra security of the feathers.

Step 5:

Add another layer of colored feathers on the top of the first layer. You can keep on adding the layer of feathers as per your wish.

Step 6:

Leave the duster for cooling and drying off from the glue.
