Numerous Iranian newspaper publishers are attempting to preserve the leftover print readers they have, as to those publishers, who are ignoring the senior news readers. The Persian daily news providers are working to secure their future with the help of digital strategies aiming at younger readers, at the same time they are separating themselves from their oldest and more regular readers.

Some of the senior readers still fetch most of the information from the newspapers thrown in their entrance each morning. On the other side some of the older generation had now started adapting the electronic world. They are normally using Internet to email, for shopping, for getting health information or to watch online videos but when it comes to news, many of them are still willing to fetch them from their old printed newspapers.

It is a truth, seniors are now using the internet more often. According to a survey, there is an increase in the percentage of seniors, who are now using more online stuff than before.

Irrespective of how fast the digital technologies are changing for older generation, many seniors would not like to make any transition. Particularly if we talk about news consumption. It's bitter to ever think, that there might be a large group of seniors in the future, not having an easy access to the daily news.

Is there anything we can do to ensure, that the seniors will not be deserted in the digital changeover of newspapers? Yes, there is. The Publishers should start guiding the seniors on different formats, to ensure them, they are not left behind. One of the easiest transition for seniors is to give them a digital replica of daily Iranian Farsi news – an uncomplicated approach than an RSS feeds or Blogs. This will decrease the learning curve for seniors.

The news providers will have to make more efforts to make sure all seniors are having access to quality journalism, irrespective of the format. The printed publications regardless of older generations is not acceptable. We need to be sure, all citizens young and old, are getting and reading their news online.

Think about the approach by television news providers and government agencies in respect with the transition from analogue to digital signals. Most of the people are aware of this, as they are consistently getting public service announcements ensuring everybody is having a television signal when the transition is completed. A similar attempt is required to make sure publishers don't let their senior readers behind, as most of the print publications are switching themselves from analogue to digital news.
