Bimatoprost eyelash enhancer serum comes under various trade names and one such fabulous product is Careprost. Careprost, once used for the treatment of glaucoma came to be identified for having tremendous ability to increase the length and thickness of eyelashes.

Careprost is known to improve the growth of eyelashes as its main ingredient prostaglandin is indicated for the growth of eyelashes. Eyelashes growth phases:

The eyelash hair growth cycle follows just as exactly similar  pattern as that of the hair on the head.  Eyelashes follows a set pattern of growth and never deviates from it.  Each eyelash hair follows a growth cycle and they might be in a different phase at a particular time. That is the reason eyelash don't fall off together, they fall individually.  The growth phase of eyelashes has three different phases like-anagen, catagen and Telogen.

• Anagen phase is the active growth phase when the eyelash hair grows. It usually takes 30-40 days.
• Catagen phase is the intermediate phase when the growth is at rest and the hair remains in this phase for two to three weeks before entering the Telogen phase.
• Telogen phase is the last phase of the hair growth cycle as well as the longest phase.it is marked by shedding of hair.

How do bimatoprost ophthalmic work?

Bimatoprost works by influencing the growth cycle of eyelashes. It is known to work by increasing the hair follicles in the anagen phase.  Thus, due to increased anaphase phase time period,the lashes are increasing in length and thickness. Similarly the drug also influences melanogenesis or formation of more melanin pigment. It results in the darkening of eyelashes.  Thus, bimatoprost is able to improve the thickness, fullness  and length of eyelashes.

It is necessary for the patient to use bimatoprost regularly for up to 16 weeks to get better and full results. The serum should be applied at night, before bedtime. The patient must understand that the effectivity of the drug is not an instant effect, it shows its efficiency gradually. The patient might start seeing the visible changes in 4 weeks and you can patiently sit to see the full effect after 16 weeks of continuous use of the drug.

You should not stop the use of drug suddenly. Instead, you can start slowly and then bring down the use of the drug on alternate days to maintain the length.
