Georgia Foster, who is an expert in helping people overcome anxiety and has launched an online program called 'Calm Confident You' that has received media attention for its positive results, wants to educate people about anxiety and how anyone could become the next statistic.
In America over 3.3 million people suffer from anxiety, in the UK, there were 8.2 million cases reported in 2013, showing how serious the problem has become. According to health and lifestyle experts, the reason for the huge increase is down to the modern world and the problems it throws at people. That can include marriage problems, debts, work, and even moving from one home to another.
Anyone can suffer from anxiety at any age, although people between the ages of 40-60 are more likely to become affected. A government study found that people between the ages of 16-19 are less likely to suffer from anxiety due to experiencing happiness in their life and having less stress and responsibilities as more mature adults. The study also found that those aged 65-79 were also happy with their life.
Georgia Foster explained the results of the government study; she said: "A younger person can suffer from anxiety as they have to go through a lot in life during the growing process. However, they have fewer responsibilities than people older, which can include bereavement, divorce, illness, money troubles, and relationship and family problems."
In the modern world anxiety levels have increased and during the economic crisis they once again jumped up in the UK and in the U.S. That is down to people worrying about the future, if they can survive financially, people losing their homes after losing their jobs or due to debt. Some people have reported suffering from anxiety after being forced to work more than one job to survive while others have said they suffer from anxiety from the pressures at work.
Anxiety is a serious problem, and it's not a problem that should be ignored. Some people when they suffer from anxiety feel it's just them having a bad day until it starts to take over their life. Due to the lack of information and the lack of understanding, family members can see a loved one not being themselves and having a lot of bad days, but are not aware of them suffering from anxiety.
