The tourist development council of the Palm Beach County works towards the development, improvement and marketing of the tourism sector for Palm Beach. This also adds in to the tourism for the state of Florida, which in turn acts as revenue for the state. The council acts as a platform for providing support and encourages any form of arts and entertainment that can play as a key influencer to attract tourism for the County. It extends its hand to various forms of advertisements and marketing that can directly or indirectly influence the inflow of tourists to the county.
In order to promote the tourism of the region, the council adapts various platforms and exercises that can help increase revenue through tourism. Some of which has been, playing as host for the International Film Festival which is now officially known as the Palm Beach International Film Festival. One such influential example is Alfred "Al" Zucaro, who had been one of the members for the tourism development council during the year 2000-2001. He was also on the Film and Television Commission at that time; hence, he then had the opportunity to advantageously use these two platforms to benefit the better of each other. His strategies have been successful during his tenure as his involvement in the Film and Television Committee helped in extending the Tourism Development's plans and strategies to market them through the right channels, in turn attracting revenue and tourists.
Al Zucaro has also been a catalyst for extending the radar of reach for Palm Beach. He has, through his work, raised the region's profile and presented it in the global affairs. Such is the enthusiasm of the council and its members to promote tourism of Palm Beach County. According to the development council, the main reason why and how tourism can play an important role in generating revenue is:
1) The taxes gained from tourism development will be used to generate maximum return.
2) Monitoring and gauging the performance of each tourist program will give an idea of its success and how resources can be better utilized.
3) Stand as a representative for the local amenities the region has to offer, and also extend their support in marketing about the activities, amenities and local economical benefits of the region.
4) They also act as a team of advisors, better known as the advisory body to the board of county commissioners.
5) To make sure that their programs are equally beneficial and compatible with the state's tourism statutes.
The Tourism Development Council has seen its share of success stories with effective campaigning and marketing. The board meets on a periodic basis to further discuss the plans and strategies that can be adopted to promote Tourism of Palm Beach County.
