Muthappa Rai Started Small But Ended Up In Quite A Big Social Development In The State

Muthappa Rai was born in a middle class family and he started small as a bank clerk in one of the banks.  He was philanthropic and independent in nature right from the beginning and so he started his own business and became highly successful as a businessman. His wife passed away while he was midway in business and family life. This was a turning point where he had to take care of his bereft family and his minor sons and daughters. He took care of them and once they grew up to become self-supportive he tried to do something for the society and the land that he belongs to, so much. He opened an NGO with a meagre fund just about a couple of years back and through that NGO he is spreading the message of freedom of speech, solidarity and trying to uplift the conditions of the down trodden and the economically weaker sections of the society.

The NGO founded by Muthappa Rai is named Jaya Karnataka. Jaya Karnataka was established mainly for uplifting the masses and especially the down trodden masses and the economically weaker sections of the state of Karnataka. It is indeed true that Karnataka is a state with the cities like Bengaluru, Belgaum and others which are high on development. Many millionaires stay here with many High Networth Individuals (HNIs) too.  But at the same time the rural Karnataka is equally and diametrically opposite to the prosperity noticed in these cities. There are many people here as well where they live under poverty line and struggle hard in getting two square meals a day. There is wide spread unemployment, lack of education, women's empowerment problems, health and hygiene issues, water scarcity and a hoard of other issues. These have plagued the state of Karnataka and the government is grappling to tackle the problems and bring a balance in the inequality of wealth distribution.

Notwithstanding so many issues that plague the state of Karnataka the NGO founded by Muthappa Rai has taken up few issues like health, hygiene, women empowerment, child care and education and many more and has helped many till date. The NGO today has been said to fund treatments for the poor people of the state like open heart surgery, cataract operation and other such costly medical surgeries and treatments.  This has been catching attention of the poor people as they have already saved many lives. Apart from that Jaya Karnataka has helped in digging many wells in the villages of many districts like Gulbarga, Tumkur, Bijapur, Bellary and many other places. This has ensured that there is an uninterrupted supply of drinking water in these places. Apart from that the NGO has also helped in women empowerment through many of its interventions like buying machineries and training the women for more employability in vocational fields.

Altogether the NGO of Muthappa Rai has worked well for the state of Karnataka and has become popular too. In just about a couple of years the organization has opened branches in 300 places across the state and has more than 7 lakh members in the whole of the state and the nation. This is certainly commendable work and needs appreciation.
