Divorce has become an eyesore in the society today. The huge numbers of failed marriages make divorce look like an ordinary thing even though it is something that should be avoided because marriages are made to last. There are so many reasons behind the divorce besides the common ones such as sexual infidelity that has led many marriages to an end.
1. Marrying for the wrong reasons – Apart from marrying for money, which is a very lame reason, there are people who end up marrying out of desperation. Women, especially tend to get very desperate when age advances and there are no indications of a serious relationship leading to marriage.
2. Getting lost in parental roles – This is a very common reason that leads marriages to divorce. It is a fact that when children get into the picture responsibilities increase and it can get overwhelming for both parties in that they end up forgetting the needs of each other. When there is less attention between the couple then the love tends to flatten and resentment easily sets in.
3. Lack of a shared success vision – It is one of the biggest reasons why many couples fight and find it hard to coexist. If for instance you are a saver and your partner seems to be very extravagant and no amount of reasoning seems to make them have a change of mind, conflicts are inevitable. The same comes in when you are looking at long terms family sustainability whereas your spouse seems to be focused on living large in the current moment.
4. Lack of intimacy – Sex plays a huge role in marriage and its importance cannot be ignored. When you are constantly finding reasons and excuses not to be intimate with your spouse brings in infidelity risks and this can be the beginning of the end. There are so many reasons behind the disappearing of intimacy in marriage and if you do not talk about it and make any improvements, divorce becomes inevitable.
5. Abuse – It could be in any form, emotional, mental or physical resulting from all kinds of situations. There is only so much one person can take and when the fighting remains consistent, one partner is likely to reach a point of no return in the marriage. Staying in an abusive marriage or relationship is actually not advisable and divorce can actually be a good solution if nothing seems to be working out in making a change.
6. Incompatibility – It is very possible for things to change between couples and this includes their personalities. When such changes take effect, growing apart is apparent and you finally realize that you are not compatible. Incompatible dreams, interests and lives make it very hard for marriages to survive because it becomes even harder to relate.
7. Weight gain – It might seem unreasonable, but it is very common for one partner to find the other very unattractive when she or he gains weight and this comes in the way of many things including intimacy. It is something that can be worked on together, but many couples fail to handle it appropriately and things end in divorce.
There are so many common causes of divorce apart from the sexual infidelity that many people know of. When couples are not willing to compromise, marriages succumb to the many pressures around them.
