2015 has been a growing year for the commercial sector as many e-commerce companies and start-ups invested in buying office spaces across various major cities. There was an absorption of total eight folds last year and these organizations leased 4.3 million square feet in 2015. Many e-commerce companies like Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal took space actively which added a big amount to the total sale of commercial property in India.

Out of the total office market demand, around 10% is driven by the e-commerce companies currently which was not there two years ago. Cities like Bangalore and Gurgaon lead in the demand of commercial property in the country. It is being noticed that the e-commerce companies are seeking expansion in both operations as well as the workforce.

Developers say that they have seen an active interest from the e-commerce companies which are now an important segment for them. India is the third largest start-up country and the fastest growing ecosystem internationally. Investors invested a huge amount into the start-ups last year which is basically 50% of the last 5 years. There is an expectation of increase in the start-ups which will automatically increase the employment in the nation.

Looking at all the development in the commercial property in India, the start-ups and online companies are encouraged to expand their presence in the nation. Companies like Ola, Jabong, and Snapdeal bought huge land space to expand their companies especially in cities like Gurgaon and Bangalore.

There has been an increase in the space requirement by e-commerce companies and start-ups specifically last year. There are expectations of more request for proposal coming in from the organizations in this particular sector. 2015 definitely saw a huge demand by commercial sector in India property which was the second highest after 2011.
