While WordPress is the most popular CMS in the world, that doesn't always mean it's easy to figure out. Thankfully, WordPress offers a host of WordPress tutorials for beginners.
Thankfully, WordPress offers a host of WordPress tutorials for beginner which covers everything from getting started on the platform to creating your own WP site. Here are a few of my personal favorites:
My 3 Favorite WordPress Tutorials for Beginners:
- WordPress Semantics- Learning the Lingo
- Linking to Posts, Pages, and Categories
- How to Start a WordPress Blog
There are many more tutorials available within the WordPress Codex but I think the three listed here will probably be the most helpful if you are just starting out on your journey to blogging.
There are also several really great WordPress resources available on the net which you can find by doing a quick search just type in your question and add the words "WordPress" and you will typically be able to find a great resource with the answer you are looking for.
So if you want to build a website I recommend you choose WordPress over other platforms like Blogger, Wix, Weebly or Squarespace.
One of the reasons is because of all the help available to you for free on the internet.
WordPress is also extremely flexible because it is Opensource anyone can help make it better and you can actually completely customize WordPress to make it do whatever you need it to do.
There are also thousands of awesome plugins for just about anything you can imagine. By installing WordPress plugins you can increase the functionality of your website.
Plugins are really wonderful because they do all of the heavy lifting for you. Just download a plugin and bam! You have a Contact Form.
Download another plugin and Bam! You have that Contact From connect to your email marketing software and now you can start a newsletter.
Email marketing is one of the most effective ways to market to your customer base and WordPress makes it really easy to be able to collect email addresses.
With WordPress you also get the freedom to host your website anywhere you want. Unlike Blogger, Wix, Weebly etc.... you can actually move your entire site as necessary to accommodate your needs.
With the aforementioned platforms you cannot move your site and you actually don't really own the content because you cannot move it.
The WordPress community is huge and WordPress is now powering over 77 million websites on the internet.
WordPress is a wonderful platform to start your blog on and they offer an abundance of help for your to better understand their platform.
This is hopefully a quick resource guide to help you get started with some of the most common beginner level functions of WordPress.
